Choose the right communication medium

1. Factors to consider

1.1. Types of communication

The communication vectors covered by Jalios fall into 3 main categories:

  • Top-down or corporate communication, from the organization to end users
  • Transverse communication between members. This is particularly important for de-siloing your organization's operations.
  • Bottom-up communication, enabling you to gather information directly from the members of your platform.

1.2. The temporality of information

These 3 families are in competition with the temporality of information. Not all information is good for keeping over time, and it's important to use the right tool for the right purpose.

The tools are therefore classified horizontally from the quickest and most disposable, to the content offering the greatest long-term value.

2. Which content should I choose?

2.1. For top-down communication

  • Flash Info : for temporary communication adapted to the criticality of the subject. This tool displays a message on the home page and in user alerts.
  • Articles (JNews): offers extensive editorial capabilities. You'll have access to the structure and style of your articles, and the management of validation workflows or publication scheduling.

2.2. For cross-functional communication

  • Chat: allows you to communicate live and instantaneously with users or groups of users (Rooms). Conversations are kept for 90 days by default (configurable on demand by Jalios teams)
  • Microblogging: a direct descendant of mass-market tools such as X or Facebook, users can freely address all or part of your community.
  • Conversations : encompasses 3 types of user content
    • Questions: enabling capitalized exchanges and providing a notion of "Best Answer ", making it easier for the whole community to find answers independently.
    • Ideas : allowing members to express themselves and submit ideas for voting by other participants. Status management makes it easy to decide which items are accepted or rejected.
    • Forums: (inactive by default in Workplace) allow you to capitalize on exchanges without any notion of "best response"
  • Blogs: the ideal way for an individual or a team to communicate on a specific subject.

2.3. For bottom-up communication

  • Surveys: a tool for collecting responses to a given question.
  • Questionnaires: a more comprehensive tool for collecting responses to a series of questions, with a wide choice of possible answers.
